Most of our conifers are purchased from Iseli Nursery  www.iselinursery.com  Many of the  pictures and descriptions you see on the conifer page are taken from their catalog.  Some pictures will be of our own plants that we have at our house, or have planted in the nursery.  Iseli has a very informative site. Abies balsamea 'Nana' The popular dwarf balsam fir has deep green, glossy needles that emerge in the spring a soft light green, darkening as the season advances. Needles are short and flattened. A nest spruce look alike. Needs some shade and good moisture. Known prior 1866.

Larix decidua 'Pendula'     Luminous, fresh, green foliage covers this weeping, tree in the spring. Turns yellow in fall before the needles drop. With age, branching divides and spreads, creating an undulating ground cover. Prefers a moist soil in the summer. SOLD OUT

Picea abies 'Elegans''  Elegans' grows into a rounded, low, dome shape. Early bud break makes this form easily distinguishable from other similar cultivars.

Picea abies ''Formanek'  A very prostrate form of the Norway spruce. This plant will become a densely matted spreading carpet over time. If staked up, its branches will cascade down creating a pendulous specimen. The perfect plant to creep over and around rocks.

Picea abies 'Gregoryana Parsons'  An irregular shape with very nice color: thickish needles, tan stems, and bright brown buds. 'Gregoryana Parsonsii' differs from 'Gregoryana' by having needles which are longer and flatter, and a slightly more open habit. Dwarfed alpine appearance; the perfect rock garden specimen. Picea abies  'Kellerman's Blue Cameo'  Exhibits a tight, slightly irregular mound form that is wider than tall. Dense gray-green needles give the stout branches a bottle brush appearance tapering toward the tips. These characteristics combine to give the plant a distinctive appearance and set it apart from other green mounding forms.

Picea abies 'Lanham's Beehive' The needles of 'Lanham's Beehive' are longer and thicker than other dwarf cultivars.  Cinnamon-colored stems and buds, create a dramatic effect. Picea abies 'Little Gem'  Tiny needles and a dense habit. make this a tight, little bun. Originally a witch's broom on 'Nidiformis,' it was discovered around 1958 and has been an extremely popular plant since.

Picea glauca 'Elf' This Alberta-type gem grows extremely slowly and forms a dense globe with short, fine needles that emerge blue-green in spring. Ideal for rock garden, trough or miniature railroad. A witch's broom found on Picea glauca 'Conica.'

Picea punge 'Fat Albert'  A perfect and predictable Colorado Blue Spruce, it requires no staking or training to achieve its outstanding, formal stature. The uniformity of this cultivar has allowed it to establish itself as a standard in the trade

Picea punge 'Globosa'  Compact, green form of the dwarf Colorado Spruce grows very slowly and gradually matures in shape from globose when young to a mounded or broadly upright form after many years. I

Picea punge 'Montgomery'  This slow-growing, dwarf spruce is globe-shaped when young, but it will form a leader as it matures and develop an upright, broad shape. SOLD OUT

Picea punge 'Pendula'  Weeping habit, presenting a beautiful cascading effect.  The terminal growth requires staking when young.  Has lower branches which are angled down or pendulous.  Graceful statement, either staked up or allowed to spread as a ground cover.

Picea punge 'Procumbens'  Similar to 'Pendula' in color, but used as a spreading, undulating ground cover.  Very effective when draped over a rock wall or slope.

Pinus mugo 'Aurea'  A golden, semi-dwarf form of the mugo pine, with light-green needles turning bright gold in winter.

Pinus mugo 'Mops'  This genuinely dwarf, winning selection grows into a low, dense dome that stays compact without shearing. The smooth appearance of the mounded plant is the result of many evenly spaced needles on abundant branchlets, all of which grow at a uniform rate.

Pinus mugo 'Valley Cushion' 'Valley Cushion' is a TRUdwarf® mugo pine that has uniform compact growth. The medium green color of the short small needles, the mounding shape and slow growth all bring things into scale in your favorite trough or railway garden.

Pinus strob 'Coney Island'  Loads of long, curvy cones decorate this dwarf, rounded Eastern White Pine, even when young. Clusters of long, blue-green needles give the dense, shrub-like pine a soft appearance, despite its rugged, hardy constitution.

Thuja occid 'Golden Tuffet'  Very slow growing; full sun brings out its best color, and thick foliage forms a pillow-shaped, golden orange shrub.
